Our Beliefs
At Bridgeport Community Church, we believe that faith in Jesus Christ is the foundation of our life together. As an interdenominational congregation, we come from many different Christian traditions, yet we are united by our love for Christ and our desire to follow Him. Our fellowship is built on the simple and enduring confession of the Apostles’ Creed. This historic statement of faith connects us to the wider Christian church across the world and throughout the ages.
The Apostles’ Creed:
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy universal Christian Church,
the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
As a member of the International Council of Community Churches, we affirm the importance of unity in Christ above denominational divisions. Our church family is made up of people with diverse backgrounds, traditions, and experiences, and we see this variety as a gift. By gathering together in worship, prayer, service, and study, we seek to learn from one another and grow stronger in our shared faith.
At the heart of our beliefs is the good news of God’s love revealed through Jesus Christ. We believe that God calls us to live lives of love, grace, and service, extending hospitality to all people. Bridgeport Community Church is a place where everyone is invited to explore faith, deepen their relationship with God, and join in the mission of sharing Christ’s love. Whether you are from a long church tradition or are just beginning to ask questions, you are welcome here.
